CBS’s “Hollywood Squares” has made its debut as the season’s most-watched new unscripted series, according to exclusive information from TheWrap.
Since its launch on January 16, the reimagined game show hosted by Nate Bureson and starring Drew Barrymore as the center square has garnered an impressive average of 5.4 million viewers during primetime alone, as reported by Nielsen’s most recent data. Moreover, it has garnered nearly 24 million unique viewers.
When including episodes aired outside of primetime, the show’s average viewership has soared to 6.84 million viewers, representing a remarkable 27% increase compared to its primetime average.
The show’s premiere on Thursday, January 16, attracted an audience of 5.05 million viewers, while its subsequent airing on Sunday, January 19, garnered an astonishing 8.36 million viewers.
CBS capitalized on the show’s popularity by airing several encore episodes during the daytime from Monday, January 27, to Friday, January 31. During its daytime run, “Hollywood Squares” consistently averaged 1.44 million viewers
Inspired by the original “Hollywood Squares,” which premiered on NBC in 1965 and ran for an impressive 14 seasons, the new show retains the essence of the classic game while incorporating celebrity guests in each square.
