The debut of NBC’s The Singing Bee on Tuesday, July 10 netted a hefty 13.3 million viewers and a 5.1 rating/14 share among adults 18-49 at 9:30 p.m., according to the final nationals from Nielsen Media Research.
Comparably, The Singing Bee won the half-hour in the three key demos (adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and adults 18-34), with the highest rating in the demo for any new summer series premiere since the debut of NBC’s Meet My Folks on July 22, 2002. And it was best in the demo on NBC overall among all non-scripted series since the premiere of The Apprentice on Jan. 8, 2004. In total viewers, The Singing Bee was the most-watched new summer series premiere since the debut of ABC’s Dancing With the Stars on June 1, 2005, and best overall on NBC in the summer in at least 13 years.
Despite facing the annual Baseball All-Star Game on Fox, The Singing Bee scored the biggest audience and best adult 18-49 rating on any broadcast network since the season finale of Fox’s House on May 29.
